Gator Clone

by gaussmarkov

Gator Layout

Slow gear volume swells with a special trigger option made the PAiA Gator a unique gate. This work-alike uses updated and more common components than the original unit, which is no longer available. If you look at the date on the PCB, you will see that this was finished back in July. Somehow I completely lost track of putting together this project for gaussmarkov.net. I wonder what else I have forgotten. I’m sure there must be something … :-)

“trig” is short for “trigger” which is another input to the effect to control the gating. for example, you could put a kick drum signal in there. “trig_tip” is for the input signal on the “tip” of the input jack. the jack needs to be mono with contact switch (like this example in the wikipedia). “trig_con” is for the contact switch connection so that when there is no input jack an internal connection is made and the clean signal triggers the gating.

The parts list asks for a momentary switch. What is this used for? Is it the bypass switch, or does it provide some optional function?
