Used this schematic to rig up this circuit with a 3pdt switch and an LED indication light. I did not use asymmetrical clipping on my first build but I have three other boards already made so I will be venturing to try it out. Sounds fantastic right from the get go! Great to have the amazing sound of the ts-808 in a DIY box!

It’s funny how the human mind works best at night, after 2AM.

The 2SC1815 and the 2N3904 transistors have different pinout. I will try fixing that tomorrow.

This is a fatal error, but I hope it’s the only one!

Hey there!

First of all, congratulations on this wonderful blog. If I had the time I would try out all of the projects posted here, since you’re that kind to design layouts and give out Eagle project files.

I gave this project a shot but I’m stuck. I used your layout and your component list, but made some changes:
1) Replaced D3 with a jumper.
2) Replaced the 2N3904 transistors with 2SC1815 transistors.

Also I had to make a few more changes due to component unavailability, which I think don’t affect anything:
1) Used an RC4558P IC instead of the JRC4558D.
2) Used 1N4148 diodes instead of 1N914.
3) Used an 1N4007 diode instead of the 1N4004.

According to what I know, these changes would only affect the sound slightly and not the functionality of the pedal.

I finished soldering everything, and when I tried the thing on bypass it sounded clean, when I turned it on no sound came out at all.

I don’t think the problem lies in the changes I made, but somewhere in the process of making the pedal. I don’t know what I could have done wrong though!

I would really appreciate it if you helped me debug my pedal. You have my email.

Hi there,
I’ve built the tube screamer based on your schematic, but something is not right. The output volume is way lower than the input one(should not be this way since there is an Op Amp). I used on some resistors close values to those specified by you, but something is not right. If you can help me, at least with some ideas, please send me an email.

Hi Markov,
It’s not clear for me the difference between a pot type A or B.
In Italy A is a log potentiometer, and B is linear. But in USA is the opposite.

Can you help me in tubescreamer scheme and specify the potetiometer?

First of all thank you for share your designs so unselfishly.

A while ago I modified your eagle layout of the Tube Screamer in order to put some mods there. And I’d like to publish it on my new diy blog. So I’m asking for your permission to do it.

Also i’m working in a Dr Boogey and I’ll make some mods too, like two footswitchable channels, modify the tone stack and maybe more. So I’m goiing to modifiy your eagle layout and I’d like to publish it to.
